Second Thoughts

Second thoughts is a British sitcom that ran from 3 May 1991 to 14 October 1994. It was broadcast on ITV and made by LWT. It was followed by a sequel, Faith in the future. Second thoughts followed the lives of two middle-aged divorcees, Bill MacGregor and Faith Greyshott, from very different backgrounds trying to develop a relationship, despite the pressures pulling it apart. Second thoughts was based upon the real-life relationship of the writers, husband and wife Jan Etherington and Gavin Petrie. It originally aired as a radio series on BBC Radio 4 broadcast between 1 November 1988 and 23 July 1992. The radio series consisted of four series and a Christmas special broadcast in 1992 with a total of 31 episodes. The radio scripts were used for the television series on ITV. The fifth series was considered weaker than the first four series; it was the only series not to be based on the original radio scripts. Second thoughts ended on 14 October 1994, but has since been repeated on ITV3. The original radio series is often replayed on BBC7.

The Collector

The Collector is a Canadian supernatural drama television series about a man attempting to help save people who have bargained their souls with the Devil. After over 600 years of "collecting" the souls of people at the end of their 10-year deals, Morgan Pym negotiates with the Devil for the ability to aid the damned in redeeming themselves rather than sending them to Hell. Under the Devil's mocking gaze, Morgan assists his "clients" in undoing the damage their deals have done because of the devil shifting good luck towards the client and away from others. The series is set in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where it was also filmed. CHUM cancelled the program after three seasons.

Courting Alex is an American sitcom that aired on CBS from January 23, 2006 to March 29, 2006, and was a vehicle for Jenna Elfman of Dharma & Greg fame. Elfman portrays Alex Rose, a successful, single attorney who works with her father Bill at his law firm. Alex struggles with dating while looking for love in a big city. Her father wants her to settle down with her coworker Stephen, a star lawyer at the firm who is smitten with her. Previous seasons of the show would only introduce the clips, but website addresses from sites such as ebaumsworld.com or break.com could clearly be seen in the clips.

North of 60 is a mid-1990s Canadian television series depicting life in the sub-Arctic northern boreal forest. It first aired on CBC Television in 1992 and was syndicated around the world. It is set in the fictional community of Lynx River, a primarily Native-run town depicted as being in the Dehcho Region, Northwest Territories. Most of the characters were Dene. Some non-native characters had important roles: the restaurant/motel owner, the band manager, the nurse and the town's main RCMP officer. The show explored themes of Native poverty, alcoholism, cultural preservation and conflict over land settlements and natural resource exploitation. Originally somewhat light-hearted, it quickly became a more dramatic and ponderous series.

Uncle Bill Reads the Funnies

Uncle Bill Reads the Funnies was a local Sunday morning children's television show on KAKE-TV in Wichita, Kansas. The show was hosted by Bill Boyle, who would read the color comics section of the Sunday Hutchinson News. Alongside Bill was Woody, a wooden dummy who Uncle Bill would ventriloquist as they read the paper. Next to Woody was Zippy, a fuzzy mystery monster hand puppet who didn't speak, would duck under the kitchen table to bring up a variety of props, and engage in zany antics related to the strip that Uncle Bill and Woody were about to read or had just read. The show appeared to have been done in the KAKE-TV's "kitchen" studio setting. Boyle was a minister at various local churches of Christian Church. The characters would deliver a light-hearted moral lesson to the children after the reading of each funnies strip. Uncle Bill also did biblical out reach to the community churches by having a sit down with young children in front of a blank paper drawing board. He would begin to tell a biblical story and then ask a volunteer to draw five random lines on the board. He would then continue the story while completing the random lines into a scene from the story. He always finished by labeling the new picture with the chapter and verse used to create the image and give the final result to the child volunteer.
