The Girl with a Thousand Faces

A recording of the Beijing Opera version of The Red Detachment of Women filmed by the August First Film Studio in 1972. Toward the end of the Cultural Revolution, the ballet version was adapted into this Beijing opera.

Preludes

Commissioned by the Toronto International Film Festival to mark the event's 25th anniversary in September 2000, the "Preludes" program consisted of ten short films by Canadian directors which were inspired in some way by the festival. Each film screened as a prelude to a feature film in the 2000 Toronto International Film Festival program. The full "Preludes" anthology was screened on the web in November 2000, and was given theatrical retrospectives at the TIFF Lightbox in the subsequent years.

Love Is Light

Saijo has an ability to see special glow around women who are in love. Kitashiro, his childhood friend, the only person that knows about his ability, has had a crush on him most of her life, but Saijo tells her that she doesn't emit light around him which leaves her at a loss. And when Yadorigi sees this, she decides that she too wants to start an exchange diary with them.

Swofford struggles with the possibility of his girlfriend cheating on him, and as his mental state deteriorates, his desire to kill increases.
